Today we move on to the second chakra in our "chakra series", The 'Sacral chakra.'

The sacral chakra is located in the sacral region two fingers below the naval.

    Behavioral characteristics of the sacral chakra:
    The sacral chakra is associated with the following psychological and behavioral functions:
    1. Emotions, feelings
    2. Relationships, relating
    3. Expression of sexuality, sensual pleasure
    4. Feeling the outer and inner worlds
    5. Creativity

    The sacral chakra is associated with the realm of emotions. It is the center of our feelings and sensations.This chakra is related to the fluid elements in our body like blood, urine and semen. The functioning of the urinary bladder and prostate are also controlled by it.

    This chakra is instrumental in developing flexibility in our life. Associated with the water element, it is characterized by movement and flow in our emotions and thoughts. It supports personal expansion and the formation of identity through relating to others and to the world. The energy of this chakra allows you to let go, to move, and to feel change and transformation occurring within your body. It allows you to experience this moment as it is, in its own fullness.

    An abundant creativity and strong intuition are two wonderful gifts that this chakra can bestow on us.When the root chakra is blocked or in a contracted state there is loss of creative powers. Physical disorders related to ovaries, menstrual problems, uterine fibroids, chronic lower back pain, hip related issues,prostatic dysfunction sexual dysfunction are seen. The second Chakra also becomes an unconscious dumping ground for all our unresolved fears in relationships. Fear of betrayal and loss and emotional abandonment are primary issues. Also here we deal with shame and guilt. The message then that this Chakra gives us through situations of physical disorders or outcomes in relationships where others ignore your needs, is, TAKE RESPONSIBILTY.

    • Mudra: Put your hands on your lap, palms up, on top of each other. Place the left hand underneath, its palm touching the back of the fingers of the right hand. The tips of the thumbs touch gently. Concentrate on the Sacral chakra at the sacral bone (on the lower back).Chant the sound VAM.( max 15 mts )
