November 2015 : Bihar hands grand alliance a massive mandate in 2015 polls. Nitish Kumar is crowned chief minister.

January-September 2016 : Signs of trouble grow, RJD says state's slipping law and order is Nitish's fault.

September 2016 : Nitish Kumar is first opposition leader to back the surgical strikes on Pakistan.

November 2016 : Indications of budding bonhomie between Modi and Nitish at official event. Modi praises Nitish for implementing liquor ban in Bihar.

June 2017 : Nitish skips luncheon for Opposition parties hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. He then refuses to change his support for NDA presidential candidate Ram NathKovind in favour of Meira Kumar.

July 2017 : Bihar deputy CM TejashwiYadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, is named an accused by CBI in land-for-hotels scam. Tejashwi refuses to resign despite Nitish's exhortations. The JD(U) chief announces his resignation on July 26, citing irreconcilable differences with RJD.
